The Batumi Dolphinarium is one of the city’s most popular family attractions. It sits in 6 May Park, next to Lake Nurigeli and the aquarium, essentially in the centre of Batumi.

The main draw is the dolphin show: trainers and bottlenose dolphins perform jumps, tricks and synchronised routines. In summer there are usually several shows a day; the programme runs in any weather and is presented in Georgian and English. For those who want it, there’s a separate option — swimming with the dolphins by prior appointment.

Bear in mind: this is a performance with marine animals in captivity — it’s up to you to decide how comfortable you are with that.

Tickets and schedule

It’s best to buy show tickets in advance — in season they sell out fast; you can book online on the dolphinarium’s website. Swimming with the dolphins is booked ahead, often a week in advance. Exact times and prices change with the season, so check the official schedule.

The dolphinarium itself stands in 6 May Park on Rustaveli Avenue — a green area with a lake, boats and an aquarium, handy for a walk with children.

Nearby is Batumi itself, with its seafront and beaches; for how to reach the city, see the transport section.
