From June 25, 2026, Georgian Airways is launching regular direct flights between Tbilisi and Batumi. You can now cross the country from one end to the other by air in under an hour — a handy alternative to the overnight train and the long drive, especially at the height of the summer beach season.

Schedule and days

Flights run four times a week — on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. According to the airline, departure from Tbilisi is at 09:00 with arrival in Batumi at 09:45; on the way back, Batumi departs at 19:30 with arrival in Tbilisi at 20:15. That means you can even do Batumi as a day trip, or fly to the coast in the morning and head home in the evening.

How long is the flight

The trip takes about 45 minutes — versus roughly 6 hours by car or train along the Tbilisi–Batumi route. For anyone short on time on a quick getaway, that’s a whole day saved.

How to buy a ticket

Tickets are available on the official Georgian Airways website and mobile app, as well as at the airline’s sales offices and through partner travel agencies. The airline hasn’t announced fares yet — check before you book, as prices and seat availability change.

More than Batumi: summer 2026 in the air

The domestic route is part of a broader expansion of Georgia’s air network ahead of the summer season. According to Georgia Today, several international routes are arriving or returning to the country this summer: Condor has resumed daily Frankfurt–Tbilisi flights (from June 15), Norwegian is opening Tbilisi–Copenhagen (from June 27, twice a week), Eurowings is adding Tbilisi–Cologne (from July 2), Air Cairo is launching Cairo–Batumi (from late June), and Wizz Air is boosting its Venice–Kutaisi service. Passenger traffic is climbing alongside all this: according to the Civil Aviation Agency, it rose by about 16% year on year in January 2026.
